PRODUCT DISCLOSURE SHEET

(Please read this Product Disclosure Sheet before you decide to take up the Erection All Risks Insurance. Be sure to also read the general terms and conditions.)

What is this product about ?

This policy is designed to meet the insurance obligations placed upon Contractors under the contract conditions. The policy provides cover for loss or damage to your Contract Works and your liabilities to third parties arising from your carrying out the Contract Works.

What are the covers / benefits provided ?

Section I – Material Damage

It provides cover against sudden and unforeseen physical loss or damage in respect of all the risks involved in the erection and installation of machinery, plant and steel structure of any kind, during the period of insurance.

Section II – Third Party Liability

This section is in respect of third party liability for which we shall become legally liable to pay as damages consequent upon:

(i) Accidental bodily injury to or illness of third party
(ii) Accidental loss or damage to property belonging to third party.

With additional premium, the cover may include Civil Engineering Works, Equipment for Erection, Removal of Debris,
Professional Fees and Surrounding Property.

Duration of cover is the duration of your Contract Works, including the Defects Liability or Maintenance Period of your
contract and Testing and Commissioning corresponds with the contact period which is stipulated in the Letter of Award.

How much premium do I have to pay?

The premium that you have to pay may vary depending on the scope and nature of your contract works, and our
underwriting requirements.

The minimum premium per policy is USD250.

What is the payment mode and how do I pay the premium?

You may pay your premium either by cash, or cheque.

What are some of the key terms and conditions that I should be aware of ?

• Duty of disclosure

  • You must give all the facts which you know or ought to know.
  • You must ensure that the proposal form is completed accurately as it forms the basis of the insurance contract.

• Sum insured

You must ensure that your sum insured stated in the Schedule shall not be less than:

  • the full value of the erection works at the completion of the contract
  • the replacement value of construction, plant and machinery (if any)

If the sum insured stated in the Schedule less than the amount required to be insured at the time of loss (i.e. under-insurance), you are deemed to be self-insuring the difference. The average condition will apply in the event of a claim.

• Contribution condition

If at the time any claim arises under the Policy there is any other insurance covering the same loss, damage or liability, we shall not be liable to pay or contribute more than its rateable proportion of any claim for such loss, damage or liability.

• Claims

You must notify us with full details of the incident/accident immediately. Lodge a police report immediately if involving theft, accident and/or injury to third party

• Deductible/Excess

This is the amount you have bear before we indemnify you of a loss.

• Premium Warranty

Premium must be paid and received by us within 30 days from the inception date of the cover, otherwise the cover is automatically cancelled and you will still be responsible to pay the proportion of premium for the period we have been on risk.

What are the major exclusions under this policy?

This policy does not cover certain losses such as:

a) War, Civil War and any act of Terrorism
b) Radioactive and nuclear energy risks
c) Willful acts or willful negligence
d) Wear and Tear
e) Faulty design, defect material or casting, and/or bad workmanship
f) Mechanical and/or electrical breakdown or derangement of construction plant and machinery
g) Consequential loss of any kind, including penalties, losses due to delay, lack of performance, loss of contract
h) Seepage, Pollution and Contamination
i) Asbestos

What are the pre-acceptance conditions for this product?

Submission of the following documents/information for our assessment of risk:-

  • Letter or Award
  • Summary of the Scope of Works with Breakdown in Values
  • Location map with details of surrounding Third Party properties
  • Site layout plan
  • The Construction Programme (Bar chart)
  • Your company profile

Can I cancel my policy?

As the policy is for covering the project works for the entire duration of the contract period stated in the Letter of Award, there is no cancellation condition under this policy.
